In Memoriam:
Andrew Vizuete
Andrew Vizuete
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend, Andrew Vizuete, who joined Networks in 2006 and served as our IT Support & Service Specialist.
As our team has come together to celebrate Andrew’s life, we’ve remembered his calm and level-headed presence—even in the midst of chaos—as well as his humor, kindness, joy for life, and welcoming spirit. Andrew was always proud to share his story, and in doing so, he brought light and connection to all who knew him.
Andrew lived with muscular dystrophy, and in a final act of generosity, he chose to donate his body to science. We are proud to know his wish was honored by Jefferson Hospital, where his gift will help researchers continue working toward better treatments and a brighter future for others.
We extend our deepest condolences to Andrew’s family and loved ones. He will be dearly missed, and his legacy will continue to live on in the work we do and the lives he touched.
This page is dedicated to his memory, with photos, videos, and stories from the rest of the Networks team.

Networks videos featuring Andrew
Some stories and memories from the Networks team
Shortly after I started teaching at Penn State, I invited Andrew to be a guest speaker to my students. As he was preparing his first presentation, he asked me if it would be ok if he shared stories about his romantic interests. My immediate response: Please do. We shared a quick laugh. Andrew freely shared his life experiences and expertly managed all kinds of questions with insight, humor and grace. The class featuring his presentation was always the best class of the semester. - Shauna
Andrew joined in our SE 101 class on AT and Accommodations on the Job. He shared his story and showed how he was able to do his job. The students were always in awe. There was lots of feedback that Andrew was the highlight of the class. His awesomeness will live on in his video, but the students had great questions for him when he was in person or live on zoom. Miss you Andrew! - Tracy
I'll always remember how much Andrew enjoyed our trip to Atlanta. And how much he loved his music, and how he was always there for any of his friends with a kind word and an offer to help, and how much he loved and was loved by his family. - Michael
Andrew was looking for work and we had been searching for the perfect fit. He had an interest in working at the front desk of a particular health club, got an interview, aced it and was told he would be contacted for next steps in the hiring process. Upper management squashed the whole process and we both said we would never ever go to that particular health club again:).......but, this opened the door for Andrew to work with us. We were so busy looking for the perfect fit but did not initially think about the contributions Andrew could make to our team and the work we do. We needed event coordination assistance, developing flyers and completing computer-related tasks. Two decades later......Andrew was still an integral part of our team......oh, and the funny part of this story.....after the initial health club interview, we decided to go back to my house to discuss next steps as I lived in the area. Andrew had a ramp to get into my house. What could go wrong? Well, the ramp was a weee bit short for both front and back doors......and it was muddy in the back yard from rain. Andrew's wheels got covered in mud and we both laughed so hard as I was hosing down the wheels of his chair, so he wouldn't track mud in the house when he got home! I was so worried he'd be stuck in the mud but he just laughed it off! He was always up for an adventure to try something out! We are going to miss him so much. - Michelle
